Why Should I Care? I Mean, It Isn't Like It's Happening To ME!

Many Many Years ago I knew an evangelist of incredible outstanding spiritual character named Sister Tessie. You would NEVER have found a woman with more faith! You might have found her PEERS but never one with MORE!

One of the most incredible traits this woman had was a little practice she had of "PRAYING THE NEWSPAPER"

It wasn't as odd as it sounds, Sister Tessie would get her copy of the daily newspaper and go to work praying her way through it! Her rationale was that events major and minor were undfolding all around us, affecting so many people who did not know the Lord and did not know how to pray. She felt that most of them probably had no one who knew how to genuinely Pray praying for them so............

She had determined SHE would pray FOR them!

She would start at the front and work her way through so many different sections. She'd see the latest international tragedies and pray Gods mercy , she would read the obituaries and pray comfort for the survivors of the deceased, naming each one by name and weeping before God for them and their sorrow! Then she would even read the want ads and pray "LORD, YOU KNOW WHO IS OUT THERE RIGHT NOW DESPERATELY NEEDING A JOB! I PRAY THAT YOU HELP THEM FIND ONE TODAY SO THEY CAN SUPPORT THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES!"

Just an incredible woman of prayer and ACTION! (I know because every weekday I would go with her and start early in the morning cooking the big pots of Chili Beans and Corn Bread and Salads that we would then take down to the park in front of the Stockton Record Newspaper and feed THREE HUNDRED or more people EVERY MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY as Sister Tessie would go up and down the line of all the derelicts and addicts and wasted empty lives praying for and in many cases laying hands on EACH AND EVERY ONE!!!!  *****ALL***** BY FAITH!

 But I digress......................

Her practice of praying for total strangers that the rest of us just read about and clicked our tongue in that tsk stsk tsk sound "What a Shame" has stayed with me all these years later.

Today instead of just reading about this ongoing tragedy that is affecting people Christian, Muslim, Apostolic, Young,  Old, Rich,  Poor, and thinking "Thank God *I* Don't Live In That Horrible Place!" I wonder if some of the readers can bring these people these terrified and UNPROTECTED BY THE WORLDS NATIONS people before God asking him to intervene and end this terror. I know I wont stand alone in doing so

U.N. chief speaks of "grisly reports" from Syria

(Reuters) - U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said he had received "grisly reports" that Syrian government forces were arbitrarily executing, imprisoning and torturing people in the battle-scarred city of Homs after rebel fighters had fled.

Ban's comments came as a wounded British photographer, who escaped Homs earlier this week, said he had witnessed Syrian troops carrying out a massacre in the city's Baba Amro district, which had become a symbol of a year-long uprising against President Bashar al-Assad.

Opposition activists told Reuters Syrian troops, who had bombarded the district for weeks, had started hunting down and killing insurgents who had stayed to cover a rebel retreat on Thursday.

The rebel withdrawal was seen as a major setback for the armed revolt, that began with largely peaceful protests inspired by the "Arab Spring," but escalated after a bloody government crackdown.

"A major assault on Homs took place yesterday," Ban told the U.N. General Assembly in New York on Friday. "Civilian losses have clearly been heavy. We continue to received grisly reports of summary executions, arbitrary detentions and torture."

In some of his toughest criticism of Damascus to date, Ban added that "this atrocious assault is all the more appalling for having been waged by the government itself, systematically attacking its own people."
Syria's U.N. Ambassador, Bashar Ja'afari, said Ban's remarks included "extremely virulent rhetoric which confines itself to slandering a government based on reports, opinions or hearsay."

"The secretary-general is not duly informed," he said, reiterating that the Syrian opposition consisted of "armed terrorist groups."

The International Committee of the Red Cross said an aid convoy had reached Baba Amro, but was not allowed to enter.

"It is unacceptable that people who have been in need of emergency assistance for weeks have still not received any help," ICRC President Jakob Kellenberger said in a statement.
"We are staying in Homs tonight in the hope of entering Baba Amro in the very near future."

One activist in Homs told Reuters: "The Syrian army was holding the convoy up because they want to clean up after what they have done in Baba Amro." As with other activist reports from Homs, this could not be independently confirmed.
"All men who remained in the neighborhood aged between 14 and 50 were arrested. We fear they will be massacred. Where is the world?" said one activist.

"The massacres are continuing. They are torturing them and killing (detainees) one by one. They are executing them in batches," another activist, who left Baba Amro on Friday, told Reuters via Skype.
Many fighters out of the 2,000 who were based in Baba Amro were killed and wounded in the onslaught, they said, adding that a final toll was impossible to give because of the heavy shelling and siege. Hundreds were reported to have fled.
"IT'S A MASSACRE"

British photographer Paul Conroy, who escaped Homs earlier this week after suffering leg injuries in the shelling, said on Friday there had been a daily, indiscriminate barrage of the city.
"I've worked in many war zones - I've never seen or been in shelling like this," the Sunday Times photographer told Sky News from a hospital bed in central London.
"I'm an ex-artillery gunner so I can kind of follow the patterns - they are systematically moving through neighborhoods with munitions that are used for battlefields.

"It's not a war, it's a massacre, an indiscriminate massacre of men, woman and children."

Conroy said thousands of people were still in Homs, without power or water, and with hardly any food.
"In years to come we're going to sit and we're going to go 'How did we let this happen under our nose'. There are rooms full of people waiting to die."
The Syrian government said on Friday it would like to express its "sadness and sorrow" at the death of Conroy's Sunday Times colleague, U.S. journalist Marie Colvin, who was killed in the Homs shelling.
The Paris prosecutor's office said on Friday it had opened a preliminary investigation for murder and attempted murder into the bombing that also killed French photographer Remi Ochlik and seriously wounded journalist Edith Bouvier.
Defiant protesters took to the streets after Friday prayers in towns and cities across Syria - including Homs, Hama, Deir al-Zor, Deraa, Douma and several districts in Damascus, television footage showed.
The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 13 people were killed when troops fired a mortar bomb at a protest in the town of Rastan. Independent verification of such reports is hard as foreign media are mostly barred from Syria.
In Geneva, the United Nations human rights body had earlier said Assad had obligations under international law.
"We are alarmed at reports starting to come out of the Baba Amro district of Homs after it was taken over by government forces yesterday," spokesman Rupert Colville said.
Conditions in the heavily bombarded district are hellish. TV footage showed heavy snow and freezing weather, with residents lacking electricity or fuel for heating.
Barely a building has escaped damage from artillery shelling and many are pock-marked with bullet holes.
The United Nations says Syrian security forces have killed more than 7,500 civilians since the revolt began last March. Syria's government said in December that "armed terrorists" had killed more than 2,000 soldiers and police during the unrest.

I Guess It Couldn't Save Itself !

Having grown up in a so called "Christian" faith, in fact a denomination that calls itself "The True Church" all the while ignorant of  and ignoring the GENUINE CHRISTIAN FAITH BOLDLY ON DISPLAY in the Book of the Acts Of the Apostles, I can greatly understand and empathize with the utter shock that this event produces in those who saw this event take place.

I only wish that they could as I did so many many years ago get the revelation of Gods word that he HATES IDOLS AND IDOLATRY. Pure and simple. I am sure this was just an accident, and yet, doesn't it tell you something about the complete inability of these things to help YOU when they can't even help THEMSELVES?????

Iranian Pastor Sentenced To Death For Not Repudiating His Christian Faith

Iran - WORLD

Iran court convicts Christian pastor convert to death

Published February 22, 2012
| FoxNews.com
A trial court in Iran has issued its final verdict, ordering a Christian pastor to be put to death for leaving Islam and converting to Christianity, according to sources close to the pastor and his legal team.
Supporters fear Youcef Nadarkhani, a 34-year-old father of two who was arrested over two years ago on charges of apostasy, may now be executed at any time without prior warning, as death sentences in Iran may be carried out immediately or dragged out for years.

“The world needs to stand up and say that a man cannot be put to death because of his faith,” said Jordan Sekulow, executive director of The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ).
“This one case is not just about one execution. We have been able to expose the system instead of just letting one man disappear, like so many other Christians have in the past.”
It is also feared that Nadarkhani will be executed in retaliation as Iran endures crippling sanctions and international pressure in response to its nuclear agenda and rogue rhetoric. The number of executions in Iran has increased significantly in the last month.
“This is defiance,” Sekulow said. “They want to say they will carry out what they say they will do.”
The order to execute Nadarkhani came only days after lawmakers in Congress supported a resolution sponsored by Pennsylvania Rep. Joseph Pitts denouncing the apostasy charge and calling for his immediate release.
“Iran has become more isolated because of their drive for nuclear weapons, and the fundamentalist government has stepped up persecution of religious minorities to deflect criticism,” Pitts, a Republican, told FoxNews.com. “The persecuted are their own citizens, whose only crime is practicing their faith.”
The ACLJ has been a major driving force in keeping Nadarkhani’s case in the international spotlight. Many other advocacy groups and human rights organizations also have mounted global campaigns and petitions against the Iranian government, and experts credit Nadarkhani’s international support for keeping him alive.
The ACLJ recently launched a Twitter campaign to publicize Nadarkhani’s case, asking participants to dedicate a daily tweet to “Tweet for Youcef,” stating the number of days he has been imprisoned (currently 863) and ending the tweet with “ViaOfficialACLJ,” sending readers back to the organization’s website where they could learn more about his case.
Tweets have reached 157 countries and over 400,000 people.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and 89 members of Congress, along with the European Union, France, Great Britain, Mexico and Germany, have condemned Iran for arresting Nadarkhani and have called for his quick release.
Nadarkhani was arrested in October 2009 and was tried and found guilty of apostasy by a lower court in Gilan, a province in Rasht. He was then given verbal notification of an impending death-by-hanging sentence.
His lawyers appealed the decision under the premise that Nadarkhani was never a Muslim at the age of majority, and the case was sent to Iran’s Supreme Court, which upheld the lower court’s decision of execution, provided it could be proven that he had been a practicing Muslim from the age of adulthood, 15 in Islamic law, to age 19, which was when he converted.
The lower court then ruled that Nadarkhani had not practiced Islam during his adult life but still upheld the apostasy charge because he was born into a Muslim family.
The court then gave Nadarkhani the opportunity to recant, as the law requires a man to be given three chances to recant his beliefs and return to Islam.
His first option was to convert back to Islam. When he refused, he was asked to declare Muhammad a prophet, and still he declined.
Iran’s judiciary had delayed in issuing a final verdict, fearing the decision would have far-reaching political implications.
Sources say Nadarkhani has been advised by family members, lawyers and members of his church to remain silent throughout his ordeal, out of fear that authorities may use his statements against him, a strategy commonly employed by the regime.

Saints Caught In the Crossfire

One of the saddest things of late was the recent veto by Russia and China of the United Nations attempt to help the people of Syria that are being butchered by a dictator no less brutal and bloodstained than Saddam Hussein was. The first country God sent me to as a missionary on what can TRULY be called "THE FRONT LINES" was the nation of Syria. back in 1987. With NO missionary support at that time we had a wonderful breakthrough seeing so many precious men and women hear and obey the Apostolic Plan of Salvation!

Today the violence being perpetrated against the citizens of Syria by a government that can only be called Demonically Inspired is spreading across the entire nation. The people are being butchered and NO ONE seems to hear their cry for HELP.

At this very moment Apostolic Men Women Boys And Girls are cowering in basements as the shelling of their neighbourhoods continues unabated. In the city of Homs , men women boys and girls that I have PERSONALLY baptized in Jesus name and Prayed through to the baptism of the Holy Ghost are praying for deliverance from this massacre.

In the city of Aleppo , Syria where the work began there are again many men women and children who obeyed and received the Act's 2:38 experience watching as now THEIR city comes under attack!

I am currently in contact withy many of these fine saints of God who are wondering if they will even live to see the light of day tomorrow.

Please keep them in your prayers their need is URGENT.

God Bless You Brother Joseph Conroy

Brother Charles Isobor

This has been a very very sad time for us here at Apostolic Lighthouse in Augsburg. As you know over the past months I have been posting repeatedly about the rapidly growing and demonically escalating violence in the land of Nigeria. As you also may know we have quite a few people in the Augsburg, Germany church  who were born and raised in that country.

Three years ago Brother Charles Isobor began coming to our church, A muslim from Nigeria, he was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Ghost here at the Apostolic Lighthouse in Augsburg.

Several weeks ago he returned to Nigeria with his fiancee so they could be married there in his home country,

Last week Brother Charles was brutally murdered by the Muslims, , hacked to death by Machetes  because of  his conversion to Christianity. Those of you who have visited us here over the years undboubtedly remember Brother Charles, a very friendly and enthusiastic worshipper of Jesus Christ. To say we are stunned by this is not even to begin describing the numbness that this has left in our hearts and spirits.

Our commitment to opening the first Apostolic Lighthouse in Ibadan, Nigeria is every bit as firm as before. Please help us , we have so many needs and so few seem to have the genuine missionary vision of years gone by, One major need we have this month is a vehicle for Germany. Brother Plowmans church in Texas had been so phenomenally generous to help us and I sent that vehicle down to Nigeria to open the work there.

This winter I am driving a twenty two year old van whose under carriage has so completely rusted that just the other day the entire exhaust system just fell out onto the street as I was driving. (I am scared to death to ask how the ball joints and things are. Probably ready to go any second!)  There is no heat in the car which in this month of temps that have hit as low as seventeen plus degrees BELOW zero has been incredibly miserable. (Not to sound like a boo hoo hoo story but you simply HAVE NOT LIVED until you have to drive forty five minutes each way in sub zero weather with the passenger windows down as the breath you breathe immediately freezes into ice crystals on the interior windshield due to NO DEFROST)

In all of this I wonder if the church in North America really even HEARS the missionaries cry anymore or if it is just so much easier to shut it out? I mean "SOMEONE ELSE WILL HELP"... At the same time the possibility of opening a brand new church in the city of Bamberg, Germany is on our doorstep and the resolve remains the same! WE ARE GOING TO DO IT! But HOW??????? Pray for us! God Bless You! Brother Conrroy and The Shell Family
